This talk will review components of ERAS (Enhanced Recovery) during the operation, in hospital postoperatively, and recovery at home. I will also present results on 5 years of ERAS from University of Virginia, how our outcomes have been continually improved, and impact on use of opioid medications in and out of the hospital. In addition, will also review data of how this approach has removed differences between open surgery and minimally invasive surgery for lobectomy.
